If this is not convenient, there are free confidential budget
advisory services in your area. Look in the White Pages under
Budget Advice Services.
- Our office is situated at 19 Clyde Street, Balclutha.
- Lee-Anne Michelle, the coordinator is at the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am - 2pm (approximately). You are welcome to come in. Lee-Anne will help you then and there if suitable, or ask a volunteer adviser to visit you at your home. The budget rooms are also used for client/adviser meetings.
- All volunteer advisers are fully trained
and experienced in budgeting matters. We operate under a
Code of Ethics and
the
service is free and confidential.

- The Clutha Budget Advisory Service comprises of a Management
Committee, the Coordinator and approximately 15 -20 volunteer
advisers.
Code of Ethics:
- Respect for the needs and independence of clients:
- Advisers show empathy and understanding, respecting clients’ lifestyles,
choices and their right to withdraw from budgeting at any
time, Support and advice offered without prejudice
- Assistance without discrimination:
- Budget advisers maintain a non-judgmental, accepting attitude
to all, regardless of sex, age, race, religion, or lifestyle.
Budget advisers do not attempt to impose values of their
own.
- Total confidentiality which is never breached:
- Before discussing financial details with creditors, court
officials or any third party, advisers first obtain
permission form the
client family according to the Privacy Act 1993
- An environment of accountability and
co-operation:
- Budget advisers display reliability, integrity and
accountability, working as representatives of
the Clutha Budget Advisory
Service when communicating with individuals,
families, creditors or
any other people.
- Ongoing training, support and supervision
of staff:
- Budget advisers accept initial and on-going training.
Resources, support and supervision offered
by the service are necessary
to maintain suitable standards of budgeting
and are required of all advisers within the service.
